Barrett Courville of the LSU AgCenter, welcomed those in attendance and announced the winner of the Acadia Livestock Show and Sale’s annual scholarship, which is given annually at the event. This year saw a highly unusual three-way tie between Alayna Hains, Jenna Smith and Kristen Spell.
After the Parade of Champions, Courville turned the microphone over to auctioneer Darrell Crochet.
The Grand Champion steer, raised by Trace Gaspard, was sold at auction to First National Farms, represented by Rusty Freeland. Gaspard’s’s steer sold for $5,000.
The Grand Champion lamb was raised by Madeline Deshotel. It was sold to Z&D Trucking, owned by David Doise and represented by Ron Doise, for $1,900.
The Grand Champion hog was raised by Wyatt Manuel. Jarred Breaux Farms bought Manuel’s hog with a bid of $3,000.
Raised by Elizabeth Cormier, the Grand Champion goat was purchased by The Crawfish Hut and Gatti’s, represented by Doug LaCombe and Easton LaCombe. They outbid everyone with an offer of $1,200.
