LAKE CHARLES – McNeese State senior guard Caitlyn Baggett has been named this week’s Southland Conference “Player of the Week” after leading the Cowgirls to key road wins over Central Arkansas and Oral Roberts last week.

The native of Iota averaged 16.5 points, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game last week. In the victory over Central Arkansas, Baggett scored 18 points and was credited with eight assists in helping McNeese snap the Sugar Bears’ 22 home game winning streak.

Baggett followed that with a team high 15 points in the win over Oral Roberts which moved her into seventh place on McNeese’s all-time scoring leaders.  She is 27 assists away from becoming the all-time leader in that category.

For the week she shot 40.9 percent from the field, 40.0 percent from three-point range and 91.7 percent from the free throw line.
