Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
Reverend Louis Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church in Duson will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Karen Broussard, organist, will sing for the services, "Amazing Grace" (French), "J'irai la voir un jour", "Notre' Pere" and "Battle Hymn of the Republic".
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Laura Touchet Richard of Lafayette; two sons, Robert Richard and his wife, Sonja of Jasper, Texas and Glenn Richard and his wife, Kathey of Brazoria, Texas; a former daughter-in-law, Barbara Skees; three grandchildren, Russell Richard, Ronald Richard and Desiree Richard; three great grandchildren, triplets, Emma, Caroline and Jackson Richard; two sisters, Yvonne Istre and Hazel Patin; three brothers, Lucien Richard Jr., Donald Richard Sr., and Dudley Richard and one aunt, Gussie Richard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucien Richard Sr. and the former, Alicia Leger; two sisters, Helen Brown and Theresa Thibodeaux; two brothers, Wilton Joseph Richard and Elridge Paul Richard.
Mr. Richard was born on December 22, 1925 in Rayne, Louisiana and was a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana for 20 years. He was a veteran of military service and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Richard retired as a Field Supervisor with Amoco Production Company after 32 years of employment in Sweeny, Texas. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Senior Olympics. Mr. Richard had a passion for traveling the country and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Richard, Mike Zeringue, Russell Richard, Donny Richard Jr., Richie Romero and Tony Richard.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Monday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
A Rosary will be prayed Monday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
