Pios rally past Tigers

BREAUX BRIDGE – The Notre Dame Pios rallied for eight runs in the final two innings to slip past Breaux Bridge, 10-7, Tuesday evening.

The Pios rallied from a two-run deficit and went on top, 6-4, when Hogan Guidry delivered a three-run, bases- loaded double in the sixth inning.

The Pios added four more runs in the seventh inning on a two-run double by Sam Veillon, an RBI single from Alex Rozas and an RBI from Joe Faulk.

Breaux Bridge rallied in the bottom of the seventh with a pair of runs and threatened later when they loaded the bases with one out.

The threat was short-lived, however, when Faulk fielded a ground ball at shortstop, flipped it to Guidry at second, who in turn fired to first baseman Kevin Frank to complete a game-ending double play.

Rozas picked up the victory for the Pios after pitching two innings of relief. He gave up one run on four hits and struck out one.

Veillon had two hits and four RBI on the day and Guidry had two hits, including a double, and three RBI.

Gavin Bourgeois, Dillan Gilbert and Brennan Corzine each added two hits while Rozas and Jacques Thibodeaux each had one.
