Cotton. The word brings up visions of endless fields of white polka-dotted plants. Or maybe of sack-dragging families handpicking the crop under the broiling sun.
Acadia Parish was once a part of St. Landry Parish. After the Louisiana Purchase of 1803, St. Landry Parish extended from the Atchafalaya to the border of Texas.

In March of 1945, the German army was steadily being pushed back by Allied troops from the west.
