There may not be a business in all of northwest Georgia any more appropriately named than Anna Smith’s Treasure Trove, 1944 Shorter Avenue.
The antique shop has 20,000 square feet on two stories that are chock full of merchandise ranging from old Victrola players to ceramic dolls, furniture, jewelry and just about anything else one could imagine. “It’s very eclectic,” Smith said. Not just all antiques.”
Smith started the business seven and a half years ago. She rents booth space to sellers, will work with sellers on a straight consignment basis and buys items from individuals outright. “I call it mid-century modern,” Smith said of much of her merchandise, a lot of retro items, just an interesting mix of stuff at great prices. Every time you come in there’s different stuff.”
More than an antique mall, Smith also hosts booths for at least four individual artists with work ranging from painted furniture to barbed wire art.
Some of Smith’s best customers are antique dealers from other cities. “Our prices are so much better than those a dealer would find in Atlanta,” Smith said.
The Treasure Trove is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. For additional information, contact Anna Smith at (706) 378-0003.
