Rome Health Spa

Rome Health Spa has been a fitness fixture in Rome since 1971 and the offerings continue to expand.

Rome Health Spa, located at 28 Central Plaza, is owned by the mother-daughter duo of Sue Edwards and Jennifer Garri-son and employees 16 people.

The gym is now accessible to members 24 hours a day, seven days week.

The center is staffed 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Satur-day. Members have access cards for unstaffed hours.

Classes are included with all memberships and range from yoga and step to Zumba and cardio sculpting.

Edwards said Rome Health Spa also offers SilverSneakers classes, programs designed especially for senior citizens.

Other features include two large coed floors with free weights, cardio equipment, cycling, a sauna, steam room nu-tritional counseling, a menthol room, private areas for women, child care and personal training, all at no additional cost.

“We’ve been here 40 years and we are only the third own-ers,” she said.
