Magnolia Market

Magnolia Market offers the amenities of an urban butcher shop without the lengthy car ride. It sells steaks, hamburger, seafood, fish and meals-to-go from it’s location at 1409 King-ston Highway.

“We try to do it like an old-fashioned meat market,” said Tom Hackett, owner. “Our big things is that everything is fresh, no preservatives.” They order their meat from Creekstone Farms in Kansas City, Mo.

“The new thing that we’re bringing in is all-natural prod-ucts,” Hackett said.

They’re stocking more grass-fed beef and meat from ani-mals that have not been given antibiotics or hormones. They grind their chuck and round on-site and none of the meat is ever frozen. Their shrimp is, but Hackett said shrimp is fro-zen on the boat before it even reaches land.

“We’re the only ones in town that have fresh seafood,’ Hackett said.

For those who don’t have time to prepare raw ingredients, Magnolia Market also sells meals-to-go. They have dishes such as chicken parmesean, meatloaf, chicken and rice and turkey tetrazzini. Hackett said they prepare them in-store so all they need is to be popped in the stove.

The store is also the only registered dealer of Big Green Egg smokers and grills in town.
