![]() The annual Rice Festival Blood Drive was held Monday, Oct. 17 at the International Rice Festival Building. Participants in the drive earned many great rewards, a ride bracelet (donated by Reed Exposition Midways), a 400 bonus point reward voucher for United Blood Services’ online rewards store and a bag of rice from Falcon Rice Mill (a long-time sponsor of the event). Overseeing the blood drive this year were, from left, Glynn Mayard, International Rice Festival general chairman; Michael Pastor, Rice Festival Blood Drive coordinator; Robbie Trahan, Falcon Rice Mill; and J.C. Webb, 75th International Rice Festival president.

![]() Employees of Elliot Consgruction have been busy on La. 13 north where they are putting gutters and curbing along the roadway. The new curbing will be from I-10 to the Long Bridge and is expected to be completed in a few weeks.

![]() Flag bearers, from left, Karen Martinez and Dere’von Oneil, along with their fellow graduates, led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance and the song “My Country Tis of Thee” during Ross Head Start’s graduation ceremony Monday morning at the Rice Theatre. In total, 82 students graduated from Ross Head Start this year and all graduates were awarded diplomas.
