Rayne - Mary B. Breaux of Rayne passed away on July 26, 2012. Funeral services will be held at  9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, July 27, 2012. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday, July 27, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m.. A rosary will be recited Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at Gossen Funeral Home. To long-term, local residents, she is most likely remembered as the gray-haired lady who for decades provided the customers of the former Peoples Drug Store with great service.

Mary is survived by her daughters and son-in-law: Mona Ann Breaux of Sierra Vista, Arizona, and Sheryl Breaux and Stephen H. Daniel of College Station, Texas. Also mourning her passing is Penny Richard, whom she considered her third daughter, and her girls. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton H. Breaux, and her parents, Albert and Laurence Hebert Beaugh.

Her daughters wish to express their gratitude to her cousin and godchild, Mary Alice Petitjean, who showered her with loving and attentive care for many years. Regular visits and outings with cousins Flo McClelland and Anne Pitre kept family ties strong. When daily stopovers from Stella Hildreth were no longer feasible, she looked forward to her good night calls. Mona and Sheryl also wish to express their appreciation to the multitude of friends, especially Mary Alice and Amy Pastor, Natalie and Patty Arceneaux, Lynn Petitjean, and Marguerite Kahn Hoskin, whose frequent visits and acts of kindness brought her continued joy. They also wish to acknowledge the caring staff of Southwind Nursing Center, especially Sandra Quibodeaux, Donna James, Clara Welsh, and Tina Kratzer, and publicly recognize the competent and compassionate care provided by Drs. Karen Roden and James Dobbs.

She always tried to be considerate and kind to others; in return she was rewarded with a circle of friends that spanned generations. Mary always believed in the value of a good education; memorial donations can be made in her name to Rayne Catholic Elementary School.
