St. Landry Sheriff Deputies and Eunice Police officers launched a roundup of alleged dope dealers in the pre-dawn hours Friday.

Officers had arrest warrants for more than two dozen men and women charged with distribution of almost every Controlled Dangerous Substance on the books.

Sheriff Bobby Guidroz and Chief Ronald Dies said the roundup was part of their departments’ continuing campaign to get suspected dealers off the community streets and out of its neighborhoods.

Guidroz has maintained rigid narcotics enforcement since taking office five years ago and Dies, who took office in January, has initiated a similar no-tolerance policy.

“We’re going to do all we can to get this people off our streets and into our jails,” Dies said.

He and Guidroz were at the sheriff’s substation before the sun peeked over the horizon, coordinating the actions of a combined force of 20 officers.
