2011 Christmas Royalty Named

A new Miss Merry Christmas and Master Noel was selected Sunday, Nov. 20, during contests held at the Rayne Civic Center Mural Room.

Kaylee Bedel was crowned Miss Merry Christmas and Glenn Hunter named Master Noel during the 2011 contests.

Kaylee is the seven-year-old daughter of Danny and Cathleen Bedel. She is a second grade student at Rayne Catholic Elementary. She was crowned by last year’s honoree, Alexis Thibodeaux.

Glenn is the seven-year-old son of Kristi and Glenn Hunter, Sr. and a second grade student at Rayne Catholic Elementary. He was awarded his crown by Nicholas Gautreaux, 2010 honoree.

Miss Merry Christmas court members were 1st Maid Angelle Bourgeois and 2nd Maid Madison Murrell. Angelle is the six-year-old daughter of Jamie and Angie Bourgeois. Madison is the seven-year-old daughter of Chad and Mary Murrell.

Miss Merry Christmas contestants were Meadow Hollier, seven-year-old daughter of Joshua and Andrea Hollier; Madeline Oliver, seven-year-old daughter of Chet and Cynthia Oliver; and Bremilin Minnix, six-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Minnix.

Master Noel court members were 1st Runner-Up Trevor Davis and 2nd Runner-Up Nicholas Istre. Trevor is the seven-year-old son of Ingrid Jolivette and Robert Davis, Sr. Nicholas is the seven-year-old son of Angelle Benoit and August Ustre, Sr.

Completing the Master Noel list of contestants was Kayden Carrier, six-year-old son of Jared ad Amanda Cormier Carrier.

This year’s contest was again sponsored by ladies of Gamma Kappa Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, with Rayne Cultural Director Cheryl McCarty serving as emcee.

The new Christmas royalty and contestants will take their special place with Santa Claus on his sleigh float Tuesday evening, Dec. 6, during the 2011 Rayne Christmas Parade set to roll down main street at 6 p.m.
