The 14th annual “Project Pink”, Breast Cancer Awareness event, and the 4th annual Miss Project Pink Pageant were held Sunday, October 2, at the Rayne Civic Center.

Chairperson for the 2011 event was Theresa Prather, assisted by ladies of Preceptor Alpha Chi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

The day was dedicated to the late Viola Farley, grandmother of PAC member Angie Broussard.

Sandy Monroe was named “2011 Project Pink Ambassador.” She was crowned by the 2010 honoree, Myrtas Haure.

The children’s pageant began at 9:30 a.m. with the following honorees crowned:

Baby Division: Queen Jolie Ann Brandalynn Ferris, 1st Alternate and Photogenic Emma Grace Rushing, 2nd Alternate Emmilyn Kaye Semar.

T’Nincy Division: Queen Brooklyn Leif Comeaux, 1st Alternate Calli Rose Richard, 2nd Alternate Tylee Olivia Alleman, Photogenic Emma Katherine Abshire.

Toddler Division: Queen and Photogenic KaRinne Helmick, 1st Alternate Braylie Jane Istre, 2nd Alternate Skylar Marie Sonnier.

Tiny Division: Queen Aubrie Layne LeJeune, 1st Alternate and Photogenic M’Kalia Elizbeth Meyers, 2nd Alternate Madeline Grace Stelly.

Petite Division: Queen Jenyth Allen, 1st Alternate Jadyn Gabriel, 2nd Alternate and Photogenic Isley Brooks Thibodeaux.

Little Division: Queen Harli Richard, 1st Alternate Emma Karen Gaspard, 2nd Alternate and Photogenic Emma Rae Granger.

Deb Division: Queen and Photogenic Faith Michelle Guidry, 1st Alternate Krystian Renee Sanders-Fleming, 2nd Alternate Meka Renee Cormier.

Following the children’s division contests, PAC Chapter president and Project Pink chairperson Theresa Prather presented a $5,000 check to Susan G. Komen representative Letie Veillon.

The afternoon session began at 1:30 p.m. with the following division winners anounced:

Junior Teen Division: Queen Macy Jo Thibodeaux, 1st Alternate Victoria Elizabeth Guidry, 2nd Alternate and Photogenic Ali Thibodeaux.

Teen Division: Queen Karli McRight, 1st Alternate and Photogenic Mya Michel Boudreaux, 2nd Alternate Ariel Reyes.

Lady Division: Queen Jennifer Meche.

Ms. Division: Queen and Photogenic April Cormier Thibodeaux.

Miss Division: Queen Courtney Michelle Burleigh, 1st Alternate and Photogenic Heather Schexnayder, 2nd Alternate Virginia Fontenot.

Tickets were sold for the annual “Angel of Hope” 12” Seraphim angel raffle valued at $175. The numbered, limited edition is a sculpted and delicately hand-painted angel. She wears a pink ribbon and sash to represent the commitment to bringing the world closer to a cure of breast cancer.

Awarded for selling the most raffle tickets were Dommie Credeur (Ms. St. Landry Parish) in queen’s division and Danette Arabie for public sales.

Winners of the raffle drawing for the angel and many other awards were: 1st prize Mendy Matte of Branch, 2nd prize Laureate Lambda Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi in Rayne, 3rd prize Carroll Menard of Rayne, 4th prize Betty Henry of Rayne, 5th prize Chelsea Noel of Lafayette, 6th prize Bonnie Bertrand of Estherwood, and 7th prize Laureate Lambda Chapter of BSP in Rayne.

The day of events ended with the annual balloon release.
