The American Legion Home was the setting on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011 for a birthday party held in honor of Hazel Jagneaux of Rayne, who turned 90 years of age on Jan. 23rd.

Born on Jan. 23, 1921, the birthday honoree was surrounded by her family and friends for the special event hosted by her children and their spouses, Shirley (John) Quebodeaux, Peggy (Allen Roy) Deville and Harold (Debbie) Jagneaux, all of Rayne.

She was married to the late Emery Jagneaux.

Her siblings are Orphise Pellerin, and the late Herman, Heywood, Harvey and Gervis LeBouef.

The birthday celebration was held between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. with guests served a traditional Cajun gumbo with all the sides, including a number of delicious desserts.

Of special interest was a special birthday cake, a large double-layer white sheet cake accented with pink roses and the number “90”.

Entertainment was also enjoyed by all in attendance provided by Scott Deville, disc jockey.
