The A & O 21st Century Club, Inc. staged its 16th Annual Beautillion on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at the Rayne Civic Center entitled, “Mardi Gras Madness.”
During the evening’s festivities set against a Mardi Gras background, the 2011 honoree, Freddie Broussard, Jr., crowned his successor, King Tyrin Nixon, son of Tanya LeBlanc and Kenneth Anderson and the late Merlin Nixon. His escort for the special event was Ranasia Charles.
Named First Runner-Up was Chaz Mitchell, son of Trinitra Cormier and Chad Mitchell. His escort was Terri Crutcher.
Named “Mr. Debonair” was R. Jay Buchanan, son of Veronica Arceneaux and Russell Buchanan Sr. His escort was Brittany Lewis.
Beaus, along with their escorts were:
Bryan Minix, son of Allen and Kendra Minix, escorted by Kiana Jolivette;
Tyren Morrison, son of Trinissa Morrison and Edward Montgomery, escorted by Kylie Mitchell;
Cedric Richardson, son of Rose Breaux and Mr. and Mrs. Cedric Richardson Sr., escorted by Aaliyah Jackson.
As an added addition recently knowledged during the Beautillion, the Ronald Duplichain Community Award was presented to an outstanding individual who contributes towards the good of the city. The 2012 honoree honored during the evening’s festivities was Aleke Kanonu, who has contributed towards the advancement of Rayne youth by volunteering countless hours in youth programs. His award was presented by this year’s ball chairman Brian Mouton.
Honorees and guests were welcomed by Tim Mayfield, who delivered the welcome address, followed by the invocation by Ryan Charles.
Serving as master of ceremonies was Dr. Jeremy Daigle, who were introduced by Brian Mouton, ball chairman.
A minuet choreographed by the Sisters of A & O, presented the Beaus and their escorts, along with last year’s king who delivered his farewell. The toast to the royalty was led by Hilda Wiltz.
The presentation was completed with the grand waltz participated by the Beaus and their mothers.
The evening was completed with dancing as music was provided by Chazem Entertainment.
