Trosclair was named the principal of South Crowley Elementary, while Stan Baggett will take over Estherwood Elementary.
“Thank you for the opportunity to serve as principal of South Crowley Elementary,” said Trosclair in her address to the board and those in attendance. “I look forward to working with the school staff and the community and make South Crowley a great place for children to learn.”
She will take over for the retiring Bob Gates.
Baggett, meanwhile, will take over the reigns of Estherwood for the retiring Johnette Leleux and the transferring interim principal Theresa Chance.
“I want to thank the board and Mr. Bourque very much for this opportunity,” he said. “I’m very excited to go to Estherwood. I look forward to the challenge.
“Now with all the happiness and excitement about going to Estherwood, I am sad to leave behind 12 years and a lot of wonderful times in Iota.”
Both principals were approved unanimously.
The meeting also several other personnel changes as it was announced that Dr. Doug Chance would be transferring at the central office away from the curriculum side and onto finances and Theresa Chance and Brenda Benoit would be transferring to new jobs as Title I helping teachers as of July 1.
“Anytime there are personnel changes it is not easy,” said Superintendent John E. Bourque.
Following the approval, the board voted to allow Bourque to advertise for a secondary schools supervisor and a child nutrition supervisor.
During its remaining routine items, the board approved a May parish-wide in-service, set for May 28. Bourque touted the success of the parish’s end of the year in-services in the past as well as stressed its importance this year with the new legislation handed down.
The board also approved the acceptance of Independent Roofing’s bid to work on the Ross Elementary roof.
The company is shooting for a September substantial completion date, but most of the work will be done over the summer and after school hours to ensure that students will not be distracted while learning.
The Acadia Parish School Board also approved a proclamation that names this week, May 7-11, as Child Nutrition Employee Week.
