Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon stated that his office is investigating the following incidents:

June 30, 2011

-Theft from a motor vehicle, 100 block of Jerry Heinen Road, Branch.

-Disturbance, 1000 block of Theo Drive, Rayne.

June 29, 2011

-Theft of copper wire from an oil well site, Hwy 368, Eunice. Deputies reported that approximately 360 feet of cooper was taken from an electric box and motor on a wellhead.

-Theft of copper, 1000 block of Mark Twain, Crowley. Deputies advise that suspects cut and stole approximately 700 feet of small gauge copper wire. Suspects also removed and stole two battery cables from a work pump.

-Domestic disturbance, 100 block Daigle Road, Jennings. Deputies charged Merle Leckelt, age 52, Daigle Road, Iota with Domestic Battery 1st Offense. His bond was set at $1,000.

-Livestock at large, 200 block Coppy Road, Church Point. Animal control responded to the incident.

-Harassing telephone calls, 1000 block of Virginia Road, Church Point.

-Trespassing on private property, 100 block of Ferry Road, Crowley. Deputies issued citations to Ronnie Doucet, age 34, McKinley Street, Jennings & Jayme T. Brunet, age 45, Don Drive, Jennings.

-Trespassing on private property, 7200 block of Grand Prairie, Rayne. No charges filed.

-Harassing telephone calls, 300 block of Stewartville Road, Crowley.

-Disturbance, 3300 block of Perchville Road, Eunice. Charges pending.

-Attempted theft of approximately 300 feet of copper and aluminum wire, Schultz Road, Crowley. The owner recovered the wire approximately 100 feet from his property.

-Theft of a weapon, 100 block of Russell Alleman Road, Rayne.

-Disturbance involving a juvenile, Meadows Apartments, Crowley.

-Speeders on roadway, Moise Lane, Church Point.

June 28, 2011

-Disturbance, 200 block Thompson Road, Crowley

-Domestic disturbance, 300 block of Shady Acres, Eunice. Deputies charged Kyla Higginbotham, age 24, 8th Street, Eunice with domestic battery, cruelty of a juvenile, resisting arrest violently and criminal damage to property. She was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail.

-Domestic disturbance, 2600 block of Basile Eunice Hwy. Basile. Charges pending.

-Criminal damage to a motor vehicle, 1800 block Roxie Hwy. Church Point.

-Harassing telephone calls and text messages, 8500 block of Church Point Hwy. Church Point.

-Theft of tires, Vanicor Lane, Church Point.

June 27, 2011

-Theft of stainless steel wheel covers from a truck stop on Hwy 95 near Duson

-Theft from a motor vehicle, S LA 13 near Crowley. Deputies advise a GPS was taken.

-Deputies assisted the Rayne Police Department with the recovery of vehicle. According to deputies the victim, who was traveling on Hwy 13 North notified the Sheriff’s Office that he was following his vehicle that had been stolen from his residence in Rayne. The vehicle was recovered a short time later and was found to the occupied by four juveniles that reside in Crowley,

-Theft of an IESI trash can, 1600 block Richard School Road, Church Point.

-Theft of a weapon, 300 block Pelican Road, Morse.

-Criminal damage to property, 100 block of Accordion Road, Eunice.

In an unrelated matter,

Investigators have issued an arrest warrant for 29-year-old Marcus Jude Campbell of N Foote Street, Kaplan and charged him with theft of money after the pawned stolen property at a local pawnshop. He was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail with bond set at $10,000 by District Judge Kristian Earles.

Investigators arrested 23-year-old Ryan Paul Price, Texas Street, Lake Charles and charged him with theft of jewelry. The incident took place at a residence in Acadia Parish on May 6th. No items have been recovered.
