IOTA - It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of their beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend Alberta Dietz Matte on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at the Regional Medical Center of Acadiana in Lafayette at the age of 73. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, September 01, 2010 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Iota. Rite of Committal will follow in the Maxie Cemetery with Pastor David Greene officiating.

Alberta was a resident of Iota and has been employed with Ardoin’s Funeral Home since March of 1985 as a hostess for the Iota location. She left those who knew her with warm memories to cheer us and fill our hearts.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Karl K. Matte and wife, Becky of Sulphur; three daughters, Roxanna M. Gotreaux and husband, Roland of Eunice, Darlene M. Regan and husband, Joey and Charlotte M. Single all of Iota; her brother, Willie Dietz of Iota; her two sisters, Ruby Cart and Anna Mae Dietz both of Iota. She is also mourned by her fourteen grandchildren whom she was very proud and her twenty great grandchildren who were a great source of joy. Your memories and love are in our hearts forever and always.

Alberta now rests in Heaven with her beloved husband, Joseph Freddie Matte; her parents, John and Vivian Dietz; her three sons, Richard, John and Rockford “Rocky” Matte; and a grandson, Damon Toups.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Iota on Tuesday, August 31st from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and again on Wednesday, September 1st from 8 a.m. until time of services.
