All-District 5-3A picks, RHS Wolves selected

Hunter Keely 1st Team - Utility
A number of Rayne High Wolves were named during selections to the 5-3A All-District Team following the 2011-2012 baseball season.

Batting .408 on the season, lone Rayne High senior Jacob Stelly was named to the first team at third base. He tallied a .515 batting average in season play with two doubles, 12 RBI’s and 20 stolen bases.

Sophomore potcher Tyler LeJeune was named in first team selections with a 4-2 season record. He was 3-1 in district play pitching 42 innings recording 30 strikeouts and a 2.5 ERA.

Sophomore outfielder Grant Menard gained first team pick with a .415 batting average. He was .405 in district action with 10 doubles, one homerun, 12 RBI’s and 13 stolen bases.

Completing Rayne High’s first team selections is freshman pitcher Hunter Keely. He was 3-1 on the seaosn and 2-1 in district play on the mound for the Wolves recording a 3.33 ERA and 48 strikeouts.

Named to Second Team All-District from Rayne High were two freshman starters, Brice Meche and Grant Abshire.

Meche occupied left field for the Wolves while recording a .357 batting average. In district he was .398 with six doubles, 12 RBI’s and eight stolen bases.

At catcher, Abshire was .380 on the season and .475 in district with five doubles and six RBI’s.

Two sophomores, Kameron Falcon and Matt Doré were named in Honorable Mention selections.

Falcon, who tended to first base while taking the mound at times, who named as an honorable mention selection at utility. On the mound he recorded 14 strikeouts in 21 innings with two saves and an ERA of 4.00 with a 2-2 slate.

Doré was also named as an honorable mention utility player. At the plate he was .333 on the seaosn and .330 in district play recording 10 doubles and 12 RBI’s.
