CROWLEY – The Crowley Americans rallied from an early 2-0 deficit and scored 10 runs with two outs in the third inning to storm past Lydia, 15-7, Sunday in the winner’s bracket finals of the Mustang Section I Tournament at Hensgens Field.

The Americans took on Lydia again last night in the championship game but results weren’t available at press time.

Both the champion and runnerup will advance to the Mustang Super Regional Tournament in Erath that begins on Friday.

In Sunday’s matchup, the Americans clubbed out 12 hits in the come-from-behind victory.

Gavin LeBlanc led the charge with three hits while Andrew Ashby, Jack Faulk and Zack Lamm each had two. Stephen Cormier, Gabe Link and Brother Martin each had one hit.

LeBlanc was also credited with the victory after giving up three runs on one hit and five walks. He struck out four in 2 2/3 innings.

Lamm started the game on the mound and surrendered four runs, two earned, on one hit and five walks.

Bryce Bergeron pitched the final inning and issued two walks while striking out three.

In other Mustang action, the Crowley Nationals fell one game short of making it to the title game. The Nationals rallied to defeat Delcambre, 13-12, Sunday afternoon but they dropped an 11-7 decision to Lydia later in the evening in the loser’s bracket finals.

KINDER – The Crowley Americans earned a berth in the Pinto Super Regional Tournament with a second-place finish in the Section I Tournament last weekend.

After beating Iota in their opening game of the tournament, the Americans dropped a 15-14 decision to Kinder in the winner’s bracket finals Sunday morning. The locals then made their way to the title game with a 15-2 victory over Iota later in the day.

The Americans then beat Kinder 21-7 to force the If Necessary Game, but they fell in that one, 12-3.

The Americans will travel to Picayune, Miss. on Friday to take on Super Regional host Picayune at 6 p.m.
