BRONCO SUPER REGIONAL

LAFAYETTE – The Crowley Americans opened up the 2012 Bronco Super Regional tournament with a bang Thursday evening at Brown Park.

The locals plated 10 runs in the first inning and pounded out 18 hits on the night en route to a 24-1 victory over Jennings.

The Americans return to action this evening when they take on Picayune, Miss. at 8 p.m.

The Crowley Nationals weren't as fortunate in their tournament opener.

Welsh rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the first inning and went on to defeat the Nationals, 14-4.

The Nationals will take on Erath tonight at 6 o'clock in an elimination game.

In other tournament action, CSA defeated Church Point, 18-4, and SWA slipped past Erath in extra innings, 11-10.

MUSTANG SECTIONAL

CROWLEY – The Crowley Nationals fell into the loser's bracket of the 2012 Mustang Section I tournament here Thursday evening when they were shutout by Lydia, 11-0.

The Nationals will return to action on Saturday at noon in an elimination game.

The Crowley Americans received a bye in the first round and will take on Arnaudville this evening at 8 o'clock. The winner of that game advances to the winner's bracket finals on Saturday at 2 p.m. The loser will take on the Crowley Nationals at noon.

In the only other game Thursday evening, Arnaudville defeated Loreauville, 14-4.
