Allegedly drunk driver charged in I-49 fatality; ejected passenger struck by two vehicles

OPELOUSAS -- State Police have charged an allegedly drunk driver with vehicular homicide after her vehicle left I-49 and overturned, ejecting her passenger who was then run over by two other vehicles.

Police said the accident happened about 5 a.m. Sunday when Mashannnon Woods, 31, of Opelousas lost control of her SUV heading south, left the road and begin spinning, eventually overturning and tossing out Randall Frank, 26, also of Opelousas.

Frank, who was not using a seat belt, was struck by two vehicles after he came to rest in the northbound lanes, police said.

Woods, who had moderate injuries, is also charged with DWI 1st and careless operation.

The two vehicles that ran over Frank left the scene.
