Mrs. Brad Joseph Bergeron
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael James Pastor of Crowley. Her grandparents are the late Mr. & Mrs. William Andrew Habetz, Sr. of Rayne, Mrs. Helen Sonnier Pastor of Crowley and the late Mr. Lora “Po-Boy” Pastor. Amy is a graduate of Crowley High School and the University of Louisiana. She obtained her Master’s degree from Louisiana College and is currently employed by Acadia Parish School Board as a high school business teacher.
The groom is the son of Mrs. Alvin Antoine Bergeron of Pineville and the late Mr. Alvin Antoine Bergeron. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Landry of New Orleans and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Oras Bergeron of Leonville. Brad is a graduate of Ovey Comeaux High School, Louisiana State University Baton Rouge, and is currently employed by the Lafayette Parish School System as a high school math teacher and coach.
Officiating the double-ring ceremony were Father Lamar Partin, Fr. Gary Schexnayder, and Fr. Matthew Higginbotham.
For the ceremony, scriptures were read by Mary Bergeron, aunt of the groom; Linda P. Greenan, great-aunt of the bride, and Marion Martin, friend of the couple.
Greeters were Susan Brammer and Natalie Abshire friends of the bride.
Musical selections were provided by Naomi Broussard and Joe Stemplewski.
Gifts were offered by Pearl Reynolds, aunt of the bride; Sheila Bergeron, godmother of the groom; and William Andrew Habetz Jr., uncle of the bride.
Ushering guests to their seats for the ceremony were Ben Graham and Milton Habetz, cousins of the bride.
As guests arrived at the entrance of the church, beautiful door decorations of grapevine wreaths with roses, blue delphiniums, silver ting ting and white calla lilies were placed. The church altar floral arrangements included blue dendrobium orchids, white snap dragons, and assorted greens. A memorial candle was lit during the ceremony in memory of the groom’s father.
Escorted by her parents, the bride wore an elegant off-the-shoulder, a-line wedding gown of duchess satin. The fitted bodice was adorned with regal embroidery and crystal beading for a dimensional sparkle. The gown featured a dropped waist with embroidery cascading down the back and encircling the hemline. The creation was accented with buttons down the back side and double bands of duchess satin trimming the empire waist and hemline, while a dramatic extended cathedral length train were showcased with regal embroidery and crystal beading. Her headpiece of a jeweled rhinestone tiara and fingertip veil of white imported English illusion complemented the bride’s gown.
The bride carried a hand-tied creation of white roses, calla lilies freesia, alstroemeria, and hydrangeas adorned with Australian crystals.
In keeping with tradition, the bride carried a bridal handkerchief, which was originally her christening bonnet, given to her by her godmother, Mildred H. Matte, as something old. Jewelry given to her as a gift by the groom and her wedding gown, were something new. Her tiara was borrowed from her cousin Celeste Habetz-Broussard and her mother’s sapphire rosary intertwined in her bridal bouquet was something blue. A silver sixpence was placed in her left shoe for good luck.
Serving as maid of honor was Brandi Martin, while Danielle Yerby was matron of honor, both friends of the bride. Bridesmaids were Olivia Habetz and Georgette Schexnayder, cousins of the bride; Michelle Theriot, Latoya Nelson and Ianeta Guidry; friends of the bride, and Rhonda Bergeron, sister-in-law of the groom.
Bridal attendants were attired in evening-length gowns of royal blue Lamoure satin with a V-neckline, fitted bodice, and defined waistline embellished with silver accents and beading. Each carried a hand held bouquet of green dendrobium orchids, white roses, blue delphinium, and white hydrangeas wrapped in silver and royal blue satin ribbon.
Kyla Abshire, godchild of the bride, and Caroline Trahan, cousin of the bride, served as flower girls. They wore Cinderella-inspired white Duchess satin dresses with full tulle shirts with accents and beading. Both carried a topiary ball of roses, mini white calla lilies, orchids, and blue delphiniums.
Attending the groom as his best man was his friend, Jerrad Bodin. Groomsmen were Keith Bergeron and Mark Bergeron, brothers of the groom; Drew Bergeron, godchild of the groom; Kahlil Turner and Jay Hendrix, friends of the groom; David Hebert, cousin of the groom; and Troy Schexnayder, cousin of the bride. Ring bearer was Joshua Schexnayder, cousin of the bride.
The groom and the ring bearer wore a formal black, two-button, satin notched lapel tuxedo with a wedding white vest and four-in-hand tie. The groom wore a boutonniere of mini calla lilies with white ginastra.

For her daughter’s wedding, the mother of the bride, the former Mary Alice Habetz wore a classic-style royal blue formal gown in Tiffany chiffon featuring a portrait neckline. The lavish bodice was accented with beaded embroidered appliqués. She wore silver accessories to complete her attire.
The mother of the groom, the former Dorothy Marie Landry, selected a tea-length dress in a champagne colored fabric. The dress featured an empire waist that flowed into a tiered skirt and completed with a bolero jacket.
Long stem red roses were presented to both mothers.
Immediately following the wedding ceremony, the newlyweds were honored during a reception held at the International Rice Festival Building. A garden scene of Sago palms, Boston ferns, fresh flowers and photos of the couple were placed in the entrance, creating a lasting impression and introduced guests to the festive atmosphere for the affair. The reception tables were decorated with center pieces of antique silver flower towers and pedestal bowls filled with bouquets of roses, green hydrangeas, calla lilies, blue delphiniums, silver ting ting, and completed with glass votives with white pillar candles.
Created by Ann Hayes, the bride’s cake was a four-tier butter cream confection featuring fillings of white chocolate amaretto mousse, strawberry cream cheese, coconut, and butter pecan. Each tier was creatively decorated with edible fleur de lis and pearls. The top of the cake was adorned with a beautiful porcelain bride and groom. The confection was served by Mildred H. Matte, godmother of the bride.
The groom’s table featured a LSU Tigers theme. His cake was a traditional chocolate confection with banana filling topped with chocolate fudge icing and chocolate covered strawberries. The cake included the design of the LSU football stadium, complete with the LSU Tiger eye. The confection was served by Shelia Bergeron, godmother of the groom.
Out of town guests traveled from Alabama, Hawaii, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Vermont, Virginia, and throughout Louisiana to celebrate the joyous occasion.
Following a honeymoon trip to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, the couple will reside in Scott.
Prior to the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was held Thursday, June 7, at Chef Roy’s Frog City Café in Rayne. The eight o’clock evening social was hosted by the Bergeron family. A continuous slide show of the bride and groom was enjoyed by all in attendance.
