BRANCH - Marlene Gale Andrus of Branch and Bart Leonard Habetz of Roberts Cove wed April 30, 2011 at 7 p.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell. The double ring ceremony was officiated by the groom’s close friend, Father Theodore Broussard, who also read the scripture.

The bride is the daughter of Lawrence and Linda Andrus of Branch. She is the granddaughter of the late Morris and Inze Campbell of Rayne and the late Foreman and Bessie Andrus also of Branch. Marlene is employed by the Acadia Parish Clerk of Court.

The groom is the son of Leonard and Deanna Habetz of Roberts Cove. He is the grandson of the late H. Joseph and Anna C. Habetz of Roberts Cove and the late Lawrence and Estina Hoffpauir of Crowley. Bart is a sergeant with the Crowley Police Department narcotics division.

Escorted by her father, Marlene was beautiful in her white wedding gown which was embellished by applique lace detailed with sparkling sequins and pearls. The dress featured a sweetheart neckline with an open halter top in back. The corset style bodice tied down her back and floated around her waist in gathered pleats. Marlene’s medium length train converted to a bustle. She chose a shoulder length veil which was adorned with pearls. Her bridal bouquet contained white rosebuds with a spray of cornflower blue flowers and a hint of baby’s breath. Iridescent ribbon was woven in her bouquet and streamers gracefully flowed down.

Mandie Muir, Marlene’s daughter, was the matron of honor. Her dress was cornflower blue with a bubble skirt and it also featured an open halter top. Her lovely bouquet of white flowers with blue tips coordinated with the ribbon on the bridal cake.

The father of the groom, Leonard J. Habetz served as best man in his son’s wedding. The bride’s first cousin’s daughter, Kianna Ochoa, served as flower girl and her neice’s son, Braylin Johnson served as ring bearer.

The mother of the bride, Linda Campbell Andrus, wore a three piece suit of a multicolored floral jacket, a white shell underneath and royal blue slacks.

The mother of the groom, Deanna Hoffpauir Habetz, also chose a three piece suit. Her ivory toned jacket was in a textured fabric with a touch of sparkle and her neutral slacks were in a seasonal linen, lightweight fabric.

Their corsages were white rosebuds with white pearl ribbon and iridescent, glittered baby’s breath.

The flowers for the wedding party were prepared by the groom’s sister-in-law, Trina Habetz.

A reception was held at the American Legion Home in Rayne where tablecloths with silverbells on top draped the tables. Multiple ferns placed throughout the reception hall created a fresh, airy atmosphere. On each side of the bridal cake were peace lilies. The bridal cake, served by the bride, was a simple three tiered buttercream confection. Each layer was filled with a different flavor including pineapple and Bavarian creme. The cake, with pearls around each layer and handmade cornflower blue roses cacading down each layer, was topped with double silver hearts.

The groom’s cake was decorated in a fishing and hunting scene including a deer stand, ducks and a pond. Draped around the cake table was netting with camoflage. The delicious carrot cake with cream cheese icing was served by Anna Espey, the groom’s late nanny, Patricia Habetz’s granddaughter.

Distant cousin of the groom, Kris Martin of the Cake Barn Bakery, created both cakes.

Guests traveled from Ohio, California and Alabama.

Marlene and Bart presently reside in Branch.
