The double-ring ceremony was celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Paul Rohling, and con-celebrants Very Rev. Kevin M. Bazzel and Rev. Andrew Sullivan.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gregory C. Mareno, Jr. of Birmingham, Ala. Her grandparents are Lucille A. Nicks, the late John H. Nicks, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Gregory C. Mareno, Sr., all of Birmingham, Ala. She is a 2004 graduate of John Carroll Catholic High School in Birmingham, Ala. and 2010 graduate of Southern Union with a degree in Surgical Technology.
The groom is the son of Jeannie H. Petitjean of Birmingham, Ala., formerly of Rayne, and the late Keith A. Petitjean. His grandparents are Janell Henry of Rayne, the late Eugene Henry, John A. Petitjean of Rayne, and the late Nell T. Petitjean. A 2004 graduate of John Carroll Catholic High School in Birmingham, Ala., he graduated in 2009 with an associate’s degree from Southern Union State Community College, and attained a bachelor’s degree in logistics and supply chain management from Auburn University in 2011.
Providing the musical background for the wedding were organist Steve Calvert and cantor Dr. Paul Scalici, family friend of the groom.
Prior to the ceremony, guests were ushered to their seats by Cole Owens, Joel McElroy and Caleb Gray, friends of the groom, and Christopher Nelson, cousin-in-law of the groom.
Reading selected Scriptures were Pam McCain, cousin of the bride, and Chelsea Racco, friend of the bride; Lesli I. Nelson, Kristi Boylan and Brooke Henry, cousins of the groom; and Brenda Istre, godmother of the groom.
Gift bearers were Jay and John Mareno, uncles of the bride; Michael Henry, uncle of the groom; and Michael Istre, godfather of the groom. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion were Linda Nicolini and Jan Biasini, friends of the groom’s family.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a full-length dress of white crepe di chene featuring a drop-waist bodice, wide shoulder straps and accents of beaded crystals and pearls. The full skirt was designed with caught-up tiers and flowed into a chapel-length train. For her headpiece, a tiara of Swarovski crystals and pearls held her mother’s wedding veil which served as something old, new and borrowed. Something blue was the traditional garter from her mother-in-law created by the late Mrs. Asywella Laughlin of Rayne. Her bouquet included her favorite flower, white roses, surrounded by desert roses and a pale pink rosary, a gift from a family member, Pam McClain. Noted around the stem of the bouquet was an Italian linen handkerchief from Italy bearing her initials, a gift from Nickie Bettinger, a friend of the bride’s family.
Attending the bride as maids of honor were Jessica Leigh Repole and Pamela Dianne Springrose, friends of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Rebecca Ann Springrose, Rachel Kinsey Swain and Katherine Allyce Matzke, friends of the bride; and Gabrielle Nicole Petitjean and Katherine Petitjean Wootten, sisters of the groom.
Bridal attendants each wore a strapless, floor-length dress of black satin highlighted at the waist with a blush satin sash and topped with black bolero jackets. Pearl jewelry, a gift from the bride, completed the ensemble. Each carried a bouquet of six desert roses interspersed with greenery.
Junior bridesmaid was Kaelyn Rose Racco, friend of the bride. She wore a floor-length dress of light pink chiffon featuring beading at the empire waist of pink pearls, crystals and wide straps of chiffon. She carried a bouquet of three desert roses with a touch of greenery, in addition to a silver charm bracelet, a gift from the bride.
Serving as flower girl was the groom’s niece, Bella Wootten. She wore a floor-length dress of white chiffon featuring a square neckline and sheer, puffy sleeves. A beaded band of seeded white and silver beading was found at the empire waist while she carried a basket filled with silk flower petals. She was also presented a silver charm bracelet by the bride.
Attending the groom as best man was a friend since kindergarten, Alan Carl Aycock. Groomsmen were Brian Mareno, brother of the bride; Zachary Paul Wootten, brother-in-law of the groom; and Michael Brewer Harlan, Eric Timothy Duke and Sean Ivan Goldfarb, William John Wilkins, III, friends of the groom. Serving as ring bearer was Jayden Rodrigue, cousin of the groom.
Male attendants wore traditional black tuxedoes with light pink tie and vest, along with a white rose boutinniere. The groom was attired in an all-black formal tuxedo noted at the lapel with a white rose boutonniere while carrying a pearl-gray rosary, a gift from the bride’s cousin, Pam McClain.
For her daughter’s wedding, the mother of the bride wore a full-length dress of mauve chiffon featuring an empire waist, double-tier flutter sleeves, and a deep V-neckline accented by a triple row of ruffles. A wide cummerbund sash of pleated mauve chiffon topped with a floor-length skirt of flowing layers. Pink pearl accessories completed her ensemble, in addition to a special garnet rosary received as a gift from a friend, Pam McClain.
The groom’s mother selected a strapless, street-length dress of navy du pioni silk with a beaded lace dress overlay designed with three-quarter-length sleeves. Her jewelry included a pair of crystal earrings from her mother and a watch given by her mother-in-law.
Immediately following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held in honor of the newlyweds at the Cathedral Life Center.
Among the refreshments provided for guests included the bride’s cake, a five-tier confection of ivory buttercream designed in various shapes and designs created by Julie Hendricks, friend of the groom’s family. Perched atop a silver pedestal, each layer was inscribed with delicate details, monogrammed “P” chosen by the couple, miniature desert rose bouquets, and an heirloom cake topper of a traditional bride and groom.
Set atop a wrought iron and glass holder, the groom’s cake was a three-tier, chocolate fudge confection with chocolate center created by Julie Hendricks, friend of the groom’s family. Accented with sugared grape clusters, the cake was topped with a miniature LSU football helmet, presented to the groom by friends of the family, Cheryl Richard and Miles Boudreaux. The groom’s table was completed with your choice of chocolate delectables also created Julie Hendricks.
Guests attended the wedding from numerous points of Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Mississippi, Florida and Louisiana.
Hosted by the groom’s mother, the reheasral dinner was held at her home with guests enjoying a catered meal provided by Jim N’ Nick’s Barbecue, along with desserts provided by Josie Henry, aunt of the groom; Brenda Delhomme, friend of the groom’s family; and The Cake Barn of Rayne.
The couple resides in Mobile, Ala. where the groom is employed as a production planner CRW for Thyssen Krupps Stainless, USA.
