On the occasion of her 97th birthday, Beatrice Nixon of Rayne was honored on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010 during a party held at the Rayne Southside Community Center.

Her actual date of birth is Oct. 8, 1913, born to the late Avery and Elizabeth Harmon. She was married to the late Isacc Nixon, Sr.

Their children are Sam Nixon, Georgia St. Julien, Leroy Nixon, Ora Nixon, Delia Price, L.J. Nixon, Georgia Cooper and Isacc Nixon, Jr., all of Rayne, and the late Bonnie Nixon and Elizabeth Nixon.

Her siblings were the late Bernice Malbrough, Carrie Batiste, L.J. Harmon, Lewis Harmon and Avery Harmon, Jr.

For the afternoon social, the honoree’s grandchildren decorated the reception area with her favorite color, red, along with white and silver decor.

Guests were treated to a barbecue dinner with all the trimmings, in addition to a variety of sweets and a special birthday cake.

Mrs. Nixon is the grandmother of 21, great-grandmother of 39, along with four great-great-grandchildren.
