CROWLEY – Acadia Parish School Superintendent John E. Bourque wanted to clear the air Friday morning about the fourth grader from South Rayne Elementary who reportedly was forced off her school bus and told to walk home.

“To begin with, I’d like to say that I do feel some form of responsibility,” said Bourque. “Our main objectives is to get our kids home in a safe and orderly manner.”

However, Bourque pointed out some inconsistencies in the girl’s story that surveillance and teacher statements help to prove.

“To begin with we have cameras and a speaker on the bus and they show the girl exiting the bus without speaking to the driver at all,” said Bourque.

Not only that but the teacher who the child claims "forced her on the bus" wasn’t even the in the school’s gymnasium (where the students await their buses) at the time the student departed. The teacher is ‘very upset’ about what was reported and other teachers who were in the gym told the same story.

“We have steps in place to ensure that accidents such as this don’t happen,” he added.”Well being for our children is our top priority.”
