Eight area baseball teams will compete this week at the Eunice Recreation Complex for the PONY Bronco Districts I and II titles and a berth in the Sectional tournament.

According to Director Trish Johnson, the eight teams participating in the double elimination tournament include the Eunice Anericans, the Eunice National along with SLYAA St. Landry, Mamou, Arnaudville, Iota, Crowley National and Coteau.

The tournament begins 6 p.m. tonight with SYLAA taking on Eunice National.

Iota will face Crowley at 8 p.m. tonight in the opening night finale. The two winners will face each other 1 p.m. on Saturday, while the two losers will square off in an elimination game at 11 a.m.

Because of the fireworks display on Friday, both Friday games will begin at 6 p.m.

Mamou will battle Coteau while the Eunice Americans will take on Arnaudville in Friday’s action.

There are four games scheduled on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. and three games set for Sunday.

The two Friday winners will square off at 5 p.m. Saturday, while the losers will face each other at 3 p.m.

The District I final is set for 3 p.m. Sunday, while the District II final is set for 8 p.m. Monday.

The top two teams advance to the state tournament held at Miller Stadium in Crowley beginning on July 11.
