CHS Ladies, Gents fall short at Iowa

IOWA – The Crowley High Ladies’ seven-game winning streak came to an abrupt halt Thursday at the hands of the Iowa Lady Yellow Jackets.

Iowa broke open a scoreless game in the fourth inning, scoring two runs en route to a 7-0 victory over the Ladies.

Iowa hurler Sam Boller kept Crowley in check, limiting the Ladies to just three base runners on two hits and one walk. She struck 10 in the complete game victory.

Olivia Boullion suffered the loss for the Ladies, allowing seven runs on nine hits and two walks. She struck out one.

Lindsey Bellard and Jessica Powell had the only two hits for Crowley, both singles.

Crowley will be in action again Tuesday when the Ladies play host to Church Point at 5 p.m.

In baseball action, the Gents were also unsuccessful in Iowa.

The Yellow Jacktets cruised to a 16-0 victory over the visiting Gents in five innings.

Stats from that game were unavailable at press time.

Crowley fell to 6-8 overall and 1-2 in District 4-AAA play with the loss.

The Gents will be in action again Tuesday when they play host to Church Point at Miller Stadium. First pitch for that contest is slated for 6 p.m.
