CROWLEY – The Cajun Chapter of Ducks Unlimited recently held their annual Sponsor Banquet at the LSU Ag Center in Crowley.

Sponsors and their guests enjoyed a delicious dinner of beef tenderloin, corn maque choux, salad and dessert. The live and silent auctions exceeded expectations in money raised for wildlife conservation and coastal restoration.

A special presentation of the Ducks Unlimited All Service Coin was given to Jeff and Alicia Richard, parents of Corporal Matthew Thomas Richard, 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines, who was killed in action in Afghanistan. He was an avid duck hunter and enjoyed the outdoors.

The Cajun Chapter is gearing up now for the General Membership Banquet to be held Wednesday October 3 at the Rice Festival Building in Crowley. Activities will begin at 6 p.m. with a social followed by the dinner and live and silent auctions. Raffle packets will include a tiered system of items that includes chances for guns and high ticket items. Then new system will allow more chances to win a vast array of hunting and camping gear.

The highlight of the evening will be a Greenwing raffle for a Louisiana Lifetime Hunting and Fishing License. This includes any Greenwing 18 years old and younger. Must be present to win. Greenwing tickets are $25.

Admission is $65 per person, $85 per couple and includes a membership in Ducks Unlimited. Corporate Teal Tables are available at a cost of $1000 and include 1 sponsorship and seven guests at the banquet.
