Car sideswipes cane trailer, lands in ditch, driver killed

ERATH – A driver was killed when his car crossed the center line and hit an oncoming truck hauling harvested sugar cane.

State Police said the accident happened about noon Sunday on LA 339.

Jamie P. Landry, 35, of Abbeville was killed when his vehicle sideswipped the cane trailer, swerved right and came to rest in a ditch.

Landry was traveling north when the accident happened.
