The Lafayette Sheriff's Office identifies the person killed in this morning's accident in Carencro is 17-year-old Ryan Whaley of Carencro.

The accident happened around 6:25 a.m. in the 800 block of Kidder Rd.

"Upon arrival deputies found a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am which had overturned several times, ejecting the driver who was the sole occupant of the vehicle," said a sheriff's spokesman.

Preliminary investigation indicates that sometime earlier in the morning the driver was west bound on Kidder Rd., she crossed the center line and went off the road on the left side.

Whaley overcorrected which caused her vehicle to skid back across the road where it left the road and begin to roll.

As the vehicle was rolling the driver was ejected, she did not appear to have been using her seatbelt.
