Rev. Joe Breaux celebrated the Mass and conducted the funeral services which were held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rayne.
Burial followed in the mausoleum at St. Joseph Cemetery #2.
Carmen Breaux Girouard was born on March 21, 1924, in Breaux Bridge to John and Ida Patin Breaux. She was a graduate of St. Bernard High School. She was employed by the Acadia Parish School Board for twenty years as a substitute teacher and teachers’ aide.
Mrs. Girouard is survived by one daughter, Ida G. Yeager and husband, Jim of Rayne; two sons, Randal Girouard and wife, Verelda, of Rayne and Fred Girouard of Mire. She is survived by seven grandchildren, Ryan Girouard and wife, Lisa; Bronson Yeager; Luke Girouard, Rachel Girouard and fiancé Kelly; Brantley Yeager and wife, Christina; Adam Girouard and wife ,Jamie; and Lindsey Girouard. She is also survived by two great- grandsons, Andrew and Hudson Girouard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ida Breaux; her two sisters, Jeanne Broussard and Hazel Stockman; one brother, Clarence Breaux and her daughter-in-law, Debra Girouard.
The family requested visiting hours be observed at Gossen Funeral Home on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Visitation continued on Monday at 8:00 a.m. until time of the services.
Pallbearers were Fred, Ryan and Luke Girouard, Bronson, Brantley and Jim Yeager.
