Charges pending in Lafouche crash that kills Harley driver

LAFOUCHE – Charges are pending in a truck-motorcyle accident that killed an off-duty policeman and critically injured his passenger.

Sidney Simmons, 40, of Gray was killed and Lanie Verdin, 29, of Gray was injured when they were thrown from their Harley Davidson after he was struck by a pickup driven by Henry Breaux, 28, of Gray.

Police said Breaux failed to yield at a west-bound entrance ramp to US 90 and made a left turn into the motorcycle’s path.

Neither on the motorcycle was wearing a DOT--approved helmet.

Breaux was uninjured.
