A Mass of Christian Burial for Charles Myers, 77, of Rayne was celebrated on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Father Kendal Faulk served as celebrant. Interment followed in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery #2.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne, with a rosary being recited at 10:30 a.m.

Mr. Myers passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2012, in a Lafayette hospital.

A native of Rayne, Charles was a retired employee of lumber yard sales for his entire life. He was known for his love of fishing, camping, gardening, Cajun cooking, and his loving grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Elaine LeBlanc Myers of Rayne; daughter, Connie Gautreaux and husband, Curtis, of Patterson; sons, Ron Myers of Rayne, and David Myers of Branch; sisters, Lorena Yelverton of Lake Charles, and Lois Myers of Rayne; brothers, Roy Myers and wife, Anne, of Wilton, CA, and Robert Myers and wife, Lorraine, of Crowley; grandchildren, April Toni and husband, Trey, of Vidalia, Christy Myers of Rayne, John Paul Myers of Branch, and Chas Gautreaux of Patterson; great-grandchildren, Ashley Rice, Mark Rice, Sarah Toni, Kayden Comeaux, Kaleb Comeaux, and Cohen Myers; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Preceding Charles in death were his parents, Arthur Myers, Jr. and Constance Dartez Myers; son, Kenny Myers; sister, Jeanne Boudreaux; and brothers, Oswald Myers, Roland Myers, and Alton Myers.

Serving as pallbearers were Eddie LeBlanc, Jr., Roland Boudreaux, Curtis Gautreaux, Chas Gautreaux, John Paul Myers, and Corey Smith. Named as honorary pallbearers were Johnny Myers, Tommy Stutes, and Norris Thibodeaux.
