Two of the most outspoken, George Fisher and Clifton Lemelle, asked the City Council last week to look into what they say are inhumane conditions in the jail and profiling by Eunice officers of young African American males.
Other than hear the complaints, the City Council believes it can do nothing because the department is the responsibility of elected Chief Ronald Dies.
Dies has said the jail has passed several inspections in recent months, inspections evidently prompted by complaints to the State Fire Marshal and the Department of Health and that his officers are not picking on any particular group of citizens, just doing their job.
Eunicetoday.com learned early today that Fisher's group planned to meet with Sheriff Bobby Guidroz or his representatives today and that it is also contacting State Police headquarters and the Lafayette field office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Eunice PD should and will stand their ground.. As for people being incarcerated , It's a Jail , not a Country Club.
From what I see when, they have inmates outside helping clean police vehicles and keeping the area clean. They seem to be well fed to me!
Sounds like George Fisher and Clifton Lemelle, need to go and take a tour of the Eunice PD from the inside and see for themselves!
