Eunice residents concerned about alleged mistreatment of inmates in the City Jail are taking their complaints to parish, state and federal officials.

Two of the most outspoken, George Fisher and Clifton Lemelle, asked the City Council last week to look into what they say are inhumane conditions in the jail and profiling by Eunice officers of young African American males.

Other than hear the complaints, the City Council believes it can do nothing because the department is the responsibility of elected Chief Ronald Dies.

Dies has said the jail has passed several inspections in recent months, inspections evidently prompted by complaints to the State Fire Marshal and the Department of Health and that his officers are not picking on any particular group of citizens, just doing their job.

Eunicetoday.com learned early today that Fisher's group planned to meet with Sheriff Bobby Guidroz or his representatives today and that it is also contacting State Police headquarters and the Lafayette field office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Pooyie, you sorry Racist S.O.B., that old man that has been sitting in the city hall is Husband, ,Brother, Father, Grandfather, Deacon, Sunday School Superentindent, and Sir to you. And I'm not going to sit here and make this some idiot racist issue, but before you speak on this man, get your f-----g facts straight. This is a loving God fearing man that was only there not fighting to party or for police brutality, but because of what was his. And for you to mix him up in this is stupid and flat out ignorant. And if you problem with him he has Seven Sons or about 50 grandsons that will kindly discuss this with you further. Sorry Eunice news but ban this Clown.

If the inmates don't like the way the jail is run, then stay out of it. The higher Fisher & Lemelle climb the pole, the more you can see their as*.

I am sick and tired of these two-bit hucksters that comprise black man 2, 3, 7, or however many have nothing better to do on any given day. I have lived in Eunice for over 20 yrs and NOT ONCE have I been arrested, however, I average 40-60 hrs per week at work; I am generally too tired to get into trouble, get arrested, much less have time to protest some perceived injustice. Take the old man that sits in City Hall lobby. He's also protesting- for over 30 yrs! Arrest him for loitering, and give lemelle, fisher, and lawrence trash bags so these Motley Fools can round up the Jones brothers, lewis tyler and their like and for once in their life contribute something to this city and be productive rather than have our PD baby sit them during some moronic protest. Had fisher's club burnt to the ground during this "after party", he would blame that on someone else too. Racism is dead, these men are pathetic, and I've already wasted enough of my time. Pooyie!

Isn't it the Job of Mr.Dies to uphold the Law? Why is it that when people get in trouble with the Police Dept ( of any kind) they try to turn the tables around and make it sound like it was the PD that was in the "Wrong"!

Eunice PD should and will stand their ground.. As for people being incarcerated , It's a Jail , not a Country Club.

From what I see when, they have inmates outside helping clean police vehicles and keeping the area clean. They seem to be well fed to me!

Sounds like George Fisher and Clifton Lemelle, need to go and take a tour of the Eunice PD from the inside and see for themselves!
