“We have been receiving complaint regarding persons under the age of 21 consuming alcohol in local establishments. The law does allow persons between the age of 18 -20 to be present inside of an establishment (bar) where alcohol is being served. However, they are not allowed to possess or consume alcohol” stated Chief K.P. Gibson.
“Thursday evening our officers checked four locations where we have received complaints from citizens for underage drinking. Of the four, we discovered one to not be in compliance,” stated Chief Gibson.
Shortly after 10 p.m., officers entered the City Bar located on East 1st Street and discovered several underage drinkers consuming alcohol within the establishment. In all four persons were cited for possession of alcohol by persons under 21. Also the barmaid was cited for unlawful sales to persons under the age of 21.
Cited for Possession of Alcohol under the age of 21 were:
Ryder Davis Love, 19 of Eunice
Emily Arceneaux, 20 of Rayne
Matthew Leleux, 19 of Crowley
Ethan Brown, 17 of Eunice
Cited for unlawful sales:
Skylar Savoie, 23 of Scott
“We will continue to visit our local bars on various dates to assure that they are complying with the law. Repeated violations can lead to suspension or even loss of alcohol license. We are simply asking for compliance,” stated Chief Gibson.
