CROWLEY - Funeral services for Clovis Lee Goodwill, 75, who died September 6, 2010 at his residence, will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Holy Temple Church of Deliverance in Crowley; viewing will be held from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.

Clovis Lee Goodwin entered this world on October 16, 1934 to the parentage of the late Andrew Goodwill and Rosa Logan Goodwill of Crowley. He accepted Christ as his lord and savior early in life. C.L., as he was affectionately called, united with Bethel CME Church. He attended Elementary School and graduated from H.C. Ross High in 1952 in Crowley. In the fall, he attended and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Stillman College on June 2, 1957 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

After graduation, he was drafted by the United States Army; he remained in the service for four years and the reserve for two years. After servicing his country, he was given an honorable discharge.

He later moved to Baton Rouge and attended Southern University to get his teaching certification to teach in Louisiana where he taught at Edgard Elementary. There he met and married Elaine Franklin of Baton Rouge to this union one daughter, LaZandra, was born.

They later moved to Houston and were united with Love United Methodist Church under the leadership of Rev. W. Murphy. He taught at Barry Elementary School.

He later united with Church of The Living God in Richmond, Texas where he was a deacon. He also was the owner of one of the largest franchise stores, Zales Jewelry Store. C.L. was the manager of the Big and Tall Men Store.

After he retired, he moved back to Crowley, where he was called home.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, LaZandra Goodwill Bozeman and husband Allen of Arlington, Texas; four sisters, Rosa Lee Goodwill Scott of Crowley, Betty Goodwill Commo and husband William of Houston, Diane Goodwill Kearse of Columbia, S.C., and Idella Goodwill of Crowley; one little brother, Leroy James Goodwill of Crowley; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

C.L. was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Rosa Goodwill; six sisters, Laney Goodwill Evans of Shreveport, Juanita Goodwill Prejean of Ellenwood, Ga., Jewell Goodwill Charles of Houston, twin sisters Hattie and Mattie Goodwill and Ivory Goodwill, all of Crowley; two brothers, Andrew Goodwill of Houston and Joseph Goodwill of Crowley.
