ALBANY – Crowley’s Ladies were right where they wanted to be after three quarters Thursday in their Class AAA playoff game against Albany.

The Ladies (17-12), rallying from a 14-point deficit, had just tied No. 11-seeded Albany, 43-43, heading into the final period and their prospects for an upset seemed better than ever.

But the the upset bid for Class AAA’s No. 22 seed Crowley High fell short when the Laides were unable to maintain their offensive output in the fourth quarter.

Final score: Albany 55, Crowley High 48.

Albany jumped out to a 16-13 advantage in the first half and blew the game open in the second frame by going on a 20-9 run.

Crowley responded with a run of their own in the third quarter, outscoring Albany 21-7 to tie the game heading into the final stanza.

Albany avoided the upset by outscoring the Ladies 12-5 in the final eight minutes of the contest.

Mercedes Rogers and Kara Wilridge led the Ladies with 17 and nine points respectively. Akeela Dugar and Tiara Dugar followed with six points each and Isis Broussard added four. Sara Woodard and Bianca Anderson each scored two points.

Albany’s Danielle Keith led all scorers with 27 points and Ashley Bates scored 11.

In Class B, Midland’s No. 23 Lady Rebels gave No. 10 Glenmora all they could handle and more before falling, 46-37, in overtime.

The Lady Rebels took an early 13-12 lead in the first quarter behind eight points from Morgan Clement and a 3-pointer from senior Hannah Fremaux.

Fremaux and Katie Primeaux each connected on 3-pointers in the second quarter but the Lady Rebels were limited to just seven points as Glenmora took a 22-20 advantage at the break.

The Lady Rebels rallied in the third quarter and cut the lead to 29-28 and then tied the game 36-36 at the end of regulation behind a pair of 3-pointers from Fremaux and Primeaux as well as a jumper from Katie Woods.

However, the overtime period was all Glenmora. The Lady Wildcats hit just one shot from the floor in the four-minute period but they went nine-for-12 from the free throw line to seal the victory.

Clement led the Lady Rebels with 12 points while Fremaux followed with 11. Woods pitched in eight points and Primeaux rounded out Midland’s scoring with seven.

In other action, Northside Christian, the No. 20 seed in Class C, dropped a 60-32 contest to No. 13 Hackberry.

Hackberry stormed out to a 21-7 lead in the first half before increasing their advantage to 36-19 at the half.

The Lady Mustangs closed out the game by outscoring Northside 24-13 in the second half.

Tori Clement led the Lady Warriors with 14 points. Madsyn Clement followed with nine points while Julie Rosa, Natalie Hayes and Brook Stanford each scored three.
