The Norwegian cruise ship, Spirit, at the Port of New Orleans, served as the setting on July 10, 2011, for a wedding ceremony uniting Constance Ann Culp and James Brian McCarty in marriage. The one o’clock, double-ring ceremony was officiated by Rev. Bob Patin.

The bride is the daughter of the late Gertrude Coignard Culp and William Schriever Culp, Sr. She received a master’s degree in mathematics from Loyola University in New Orleans and is employed as a math instructor at Southwest Louisiana Community College in Lafayette.

The groom is the son of Marjorie Hains McCarty of Rayne and the late Lt. Col. Justin John McCarty. He is a Rayne High School graduate, attended UL-Lafayette, and is employed as chief surveyor for Geo Kinetics in Houston, Texas.

Escorted by her brother, William Culp, Jr., the bride wore a white, halter-style dress featuring tied-styled straps and a slight rushing effect from the middle of the loose-fitting bodice.

Serving as flower girl was the bride’s eight-year-old daughter, Sarah Ann Culp, while ring bearer was William Culp Cagle, the bride’s nine-year-old nephew.

Immediately following the wedding vows, guests enjoyed a reception on the cruise ship in honor of the couple.

Guests attended the special day from Rayne, Lafayette, Breaux Bridge, Metairie, Houston, Texas and Port St. Lucia, Fla.

Following a seven-day cruise in the Western Caribbean, the couple and her daughter, Sarah are residing in Lafayette.
