Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 30, 2010, at 11 a.m. in Abundant Life Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Melvin Finley officiating, for Curtis “Rod Jack” Rochester, 62, who died at 7:15 a.m. on Sunday, December 19, 2010, at Summerwood Nursing Home in Crowley.

Burial will be in Maryland Chapel C.M.E. Church Cemetery in Branch.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 8 a.m. until time of services in the church.

Mr. Rochester is survived by his wife, Dorothy Patton Rochester of Rayne; four stepdaughters, Carol (Robert) Senegal, Linda Mott, and Barbara (Thomas) Senegal, all of Rayne, and Mary Jane Hamilton of Lafayette; two brothers, Valsin Rochester, Jr., and Joseph Rochester, both of Rayne; four sisters, Helena Mouton, Ezora Charles, Shirley Cook and Bertha (Rodney) Guidry, all of Rayne; 13 step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Valsin, Sr. and Delia Minix Rochesters; and a stepson, Robert Hamilton, Jr.

He was a longtime employee of Cash and Carry, the Rayne Street Department and served as a janitor at Armstrong Middle School.

Wilturner Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.
