DEQ to present Emergency Response Workshops

BATON ROUGE - The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality Enviroschool Program will present free workshops on Emergency Response in August and September. These workshops will provide an overview of the activities and role of the DEQ’s Emergency Response Division. They will include what happens when there is an emergency situation, DEQ’s role and response during emergencies, procedures concerning reporting complaints and spills and information about DEQ’s Single Point of Contact line (SPOC).



Enviroschool provides training for communities, businesses and other organizations on many regulatory topics. The goal of Enviroschool is for the attendees to become informed about the environmental regulatory process in order to maintain and improve environmental compliance.



The workshops will be held in Baton Rouge, Pineville, Lake Charles and Jefferson. The workshops are scheduled as follows:



· Baton Rouge – August 23 – 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

DEQ Headquarters – Galvez Building, Oliver Pollock Room

602 North 5th street, Baton Rouge

· Alexandria area – August 30 – 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.,

Main Street Community Center, 708 Main Street, Pineville

· Lake Charles – September 6 – 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

LSU AgCenter, 7101 Gulf Highway, Lake Charles

· New Orleans Area – September 13 – 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Yenni Building, 2nd floor Council Chambers, 1221 Elmwood Park Blvd., Jefferson
