Rotary is an international organization and its principal motto is “Service Above Self.” In its early history, the original members of Rotary realized that fellowship and mutual self-interests were not enough to keep a group of busy professionals meeting each week and that undertaking efforts to improve the lives of others proved to be a more powerful motivation.
Thus, the focus of this combined effort of fundraising is to provide for the needs of this little corner of the world through the efforts of the Community Outreach Corporation and the Crowley Christian Care Center.
The Community Outreach Corporation, whose initial project was the rebuilding of the homeless shelter known as The Welcome House, is a not-for-profit (501(c)(3)) organization dedicated to helping improve the lives of those in the community who are in need of a hand.
The Crowley Christian Care Center is also a not-for-profit (501(c)(3)) organization that is dedicated to providing for the basic needs of those in the community who fall on hard times and need such things as food, clothing, medication, temporary utility assistance and many other essentials.
These organizations fit together like the pieces of a beautiful puzzle and together they invite you to join them in a “caring way” as they present their very own version of “Dancing with the Stars.”
The charity fundraising gala is being co-chaired by Emily Stoma and Mary Zaunbrecher. Brenda Core of The Core Dance Center is the chairwoman of the choreography team that has also generously donated time and talent. Troy Breaux will act as financial chairman as well as the silent auction chairman.
The inaugural event will feature 11 couples, the “Stars of Acadiana.” Each week a new couple will be introduced to the public.
Dancing with the Stars is proud to announce the first couple and their choreographer selected to participate in this year’s gala.
Gene Williams: Williams, who is married to the former Janet Orgeron, is father to Brady and Jeanne Claire and grandfather to Madeline, Landon, Brendon, Ethan and Lisa. Williams is a financial advisor representative for Met Life.
In accepting this opportunity, he said, “I love to have fun!”
Mitzi Mayeux LeJeune: LeJeune is marred to Clay LeJeune and is the mother of two children, Mia and Ava. She is an attorney for the 15th Judicial District Court, owner of Endeavor Title, LLC and is a florist and owner of Serendipity Floral Designs, LLC.
LeJeune graciously accepted this opportunity to help others.
The choreographer for Williams and LeJeune is Sydni Hart. Hart is married to Joshua and is the mother of Allison. She has been dancing since the age of three and has extensive training in ballet. Hart is currently cast as Alice in the original contemporary ballet of “Alice in Wonderland,” directed by Alexandra Culotta.
The success of this worthwhile event is based on raising money through sponsorship, ticket sales and voting for the couple of your choice to win the highly sought- after mirrored ball and the title of inaugural Dancing with the Stars winner.
