LAFAYETTE -- Services will be Saturday civic leader and bottling company founder Alvin Smith. He died Jan. 13 at age 87.

Smith, from Jennings, moved to Lafayette after his World War II service.

He purchased the 7-Up plant and later bought bottling plants in New Iberia and Franklin, another in Lafayette and formed Acadiana Bottling.

He was an active supporter of ULL and the Acadiana Symphony.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia and four children,.

Delhomme is in charge of arrangements.
