Attorney, civic leader

NEW ORLEANS – Services will be Friday for attorney and civic leader David Conroy. He died March 28 at age 81.

He was a delegate to the 1973 La. Constitutional Convention and an advisor to Gov. Buddy Roemer on tax reform.

Conroy was a former member of the LSU Board of Supervisors and was its president for two years. Gov. Mike Foster appointed him chairman of the La. Stadium and Exposition District and during his term the New Orleans Arena was constructed.

A recognized estate and tax expert, he was a partner in Milling Benson Woodward LLP beginning in 1956.

He was a former chairman of the Council for a Better Louisiana and president of the Greater New Orleans Foundation.

Survivors include his wife Ann and six children.

Arrangements are by Lakelawn, Metairie.
