Former Saints, Dolphis exec

ABITA SPRINGS – Services for former New Orleans Saints and Miami Doplhins team president Eddie Jones will be Saturday. He died June 27 at age 74.

He was an all-state basketball player at Denham Springs High and spent almost 40 years as an NFL executive. He was hired as business manager of the Saints in 1968 and was the team president from 1982-85. He was Dolphins president from 1996-2005.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn, two sons and a daughter.

Arrangements are by Seale.

Diocesan official

BATON ROUGE – Services for former Catholic Diocese official Mark Blanchard will be Saturday. He died June 22 at age 55.

He was director of stewardship for the diocese for 27 years and started many programs and raised funds for several new schools and church buildings.

Survivors include his wife Malaura, a daughter and a step-daughter.

Businessman, sports columnist

DENHAM SPRINGS – Services will be Sunday for real estate handler and sports columnist Joseph “Pee Wee” Day. He died June 27 at age 72.

He was head of the commercial division of M.A. Allen Realty Group and a founding owner of Sport-N-Center. He was long-time Denham Springs/Livingston Parish News sports columnist.

Survivors include his wife Elaine and two daughters.
