Sport shop owner

PORT ALLEN – Services for sport shop owner and heart transplant recipient Charles Doming will be Wednesday. He died Oct. 20 at age 68.

He received a transplant at the age of 50. He was part owner of the chain of Dickie’s Sports Shops.

Survivors include his wife Lorraine and a daughter.

Arrangements are by Seale.

Physician, athlete

PLAQUEMINE – Services for physician and former all-state football and basketball player Dr. Larry Ferachi will be Wednesday. He died Oct. 19 at age 61.

He was an all-state athlete at Plaquemine High and played basketball at Nicholls State. He was an orthopedic surgeon.

Survivors include his wife Francis and two sons.

Arrangements are by Rabenhorst, Baton Rouge.

Former Ethyl exec

BATON ROUGE – Services for retired Ethyl Corp. executive Dr. Fred Impastato will be Wednesday. He died Oct. 18 at age 83.

A chemist, he was retired director of research & development at Ethyl Corp.

Survivors include his wife JoAnn, two sons and four daughters.

Arrangements are by Rabenhorst.

Among first female physicians

NEW ORLEANS – Services for long-time pediatrician Dr. Nell-Pape Waring will be Thursday. She died Oct. 20 at age 85.

Nationally, she was among the first women to attend medical school when she enrolled at Tulane in 1947 and was among the city’s earliest female physicians.

Survivors include five sons.

Arrangements are by Lakelawn, Metairie.

Toledo Bend real estate broker

MANY – Services for real estate broker and civic leader Dolores “Ann” Carter will be Thursday. She died Oct. 19 at her Toledo Bend home. She was 76.

She was co-owner of Toledo Town Realty and former owner of Lake Country Realty. She had served on the board of the Tourism Commission and the advisory board of Peoples State Bank. Prior to locating here, she was a buyer for Neiman-Marcus and Dillard’s.

Survivors include her husband Glynn, two sons and two step-children.

Arrangements are by Meadows.
