Livestock program director

BATON ROUGE – Services for Southern University Ag Center director of livestock programs James Archie will be Saturday. He died Dec. 18.

He worked for LSU and Southern for more than 40 years, directing countless livestock shows and youth competitions.

Survivors include five sons and two daughters.

Arrangements are by Hall Davis & Son.

Pioneering librarian

PONCHATOULA – Services for pioneering librarian Eunice Heitman Cotton will be Friday. She died Dec. 16 at age 94.

She was formerly parish librarian in Catahoula, Caldwell and Franklin Parishes, establishing library services in those communities.

Survivors include a step-daughter.

Arrangements are by Harry McKneely.

TV cook, author

MORGAN CITY – Services for TV cooking personality Mirabell Guidry will be Saturday. She died Dec. 19 at age 93.

She had cooking shows on WBRZ-Baton Rouge for 13 years, KPLC-Lake Charles 13 years and WDSU-New Orleans six years. She was also a cook book author and an accomplished amateur golfer, winning a number of events including the St. Mary Parish championship.

Survivors include a son and two daughters.

Long-time house mother

METAIRIE – Services for long-time Sigma Chi house mother and LSU Housemothers Assn. president Lorelle Verges will be Saturday. She died Dec. 19 at age 82.

She was “Mom V” at the LSU Sigma Chi house for more than 20 years and was a charter member and board member of Bengal Belles.

Survivors include a son and a daughter.

Arrangements are by Garden of Memories.
