Former sheriff, voice of NSU

NATCHITOCHES – Services will be Saturday for former sheriff and long-time voice of the NSU athletic program Norm Fletcher. He died Dec. 14.

He was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War, a former radio station owner and co-owner of the first cable TV system in the state. He was the voice of NSU Demons for more than 4,000 events, narrator of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and a member of that shrine.

He served three terms as Natchitoches Parish sheriff. was city/parish Civic Defense director for 18 yeares and was president of the state Chambers of Commerce Assn. for three years.

Arrangements are by Blanchard-St. Denis.

Retired rehab offiicial

ARCADIA – Services for retired vocational rehab official Donald Hornke will be Thursday. He died Dec. 20 at age 68.

He retired as regional director for Louisiana Vocational Rehabilitation Services in Shreveport.

Survivors include his wife Ina, two children and two step-children.
