Diocesan installation of Catholic Daughters of the Americas officers was held on Sunday Aug. 8, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne with the celebration of the Eucharist officiated by chaplain and pastor Father William Ruskoski, with Court Rayne No. 844 as the host court.

The entrance procession consisted of flag bearer Elizabeth Deville, and color guards Ethel Leger and Florence Broussard. The banner bearer was Joyce Trahan.

The regents, vice regents recording secretaries, financial secretaries, treasurers and district deputies from the 19 diocesan courts followed.

The officers came from Catholice Daughter courts in Opelousas, Eunice, Immaculata of Lafayette, St. Martinville, Abbeville, Jeanerette, Loreauville, Breaux Bridge, Kaplan, Iota, Church Point, Alice Boucher of Lafayette, Our Lady of the Rosary of Lafayette, Erath, Franklin, Ville Platte, Duson, Gueydan, Lawtell, St. Jules Lafayette, Roberts Cove, Mire, Carencro, Scott, Evangeline, Parks, New Iberia, and Baldwin.

Also participating in the diocesan ceremony were State Regent Gloria Newman of Lake Charles, First Vice Regent Joyce Stein of Vacherie, Second Vice Regent, Ellen Corbello of Iowa, State Secretary Pat Myers of Lake Charles, and State Treasurer Barbara Michaels of Baton Rouge.

Serving as lectors during the Mass were Margaret Young, financial secretary of Court Rayne, and Jeanette Leger, district deputy of Court Rayne; Offertory gift bearers were the state officers.

During the Liturgy the chaplain and state ceremonial coordinator installed the new officers for their respective courts.

Liturgical music was provided by the St. Joseph Carpenters Choir under the direction of Conrad Breaux.

Following the Eucharistic Celebration the newly installed officers were welcomed into the St. Joseph Parish Center for the noon meal prepared and served by a host of Court Rayne members, namely, Court Rayne Regent, Lou St. Germain, Mary Alice Petitjean, Joyce Trahan, Allie Caillier, Liz Deaville, Ella Mae Foreman, Bonnie Demette, Rose Marie Stelly, Margo Goertz, Lorraine Simoneaux and Claire Beslin.

Appropriate workshops for the newly installed officers were conducted by the state officers after the meal.
